Smoking: Everyone is talking how bad it is and why people should get stop smoking help. The list goes on why you shouldn’t light up. Of all the smokers how many actually listen to why they should stop smoking versus just taking offense to people telling them how they should live.
Of course the biggest reason of all to stop smoking is your health. Smoking has been proven to cause emphysema and lung cancer. It can also cause heart problems and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD for short. Your health is an important thing; it shouldn’t be taken for granted or neglected. The last thing you want is to be hauling around an oxygen tank just so you can breathe, or using an inhaler just so you can walk a couple of blocks.
These health problems are caused by the four hundred chemicals found in a single cigarette. Many of these chemicals are found in other household items that you would never dream of putting in your body. For example, cigarettes contain acetone which is the same chemical found in nail polish remover. They also contain cadmium which is found in batteries and hexamine which is used in barbecue lighter fluid. And don’t forget ammonia, which is a toilet cleaner and of course methane, more commonly known as sewer gas.
If you don’t care about your health then you need to think of the people around you. Second hand smoke causes the same problems in those who live or work with smokers. These people choose not to smoke themselves but the people around them subject them to the harsh chemicals that are found in cigarette smoke. When you stop smoking you don’t just improve your chances for better health you improve your loved ones chances too.
Now that all the health reasons have been listed it’s time to point out some other aspects of smoking. When you smoke the smell permeates everything, from your clothes to your hair. If you smoke in your car or house then guess what they smell like cigarette smoke too. Washing your clothes does not remove the smell if all you are going to do is turn around and smoke in them. Many people don’t particularly care for the smell of cigarette smoke and you might find it puts people off.
We’ve all been lectured from the time we were toddlers about not smoking yet many do it anyway. It is an addiction but there are ways to stop smoking and get your life away from those harmful sticks.
